1. What should I do if I receive a Violation Notice?

Carefully read the instructions on the violation notice.

You will be provided with information on how to:
  • Pay your tolls and fees
  • Appeal the violation
  • Contact the E-ZPass service center if you need assistance

You must resolve the fees and tolls within 30 days of the issuance of the violation notice or you will be subject to additional charges.

2. How do I pay a Toll Violation Notice?

When you pay a toll violation notice, you will be asked to provide the entire notice ID (include letters and numbers) and your license plate number.

You can pay the charges on the Toll Violation Notice by:

  • Calling the E-ZPass Service Center at 877-762-7824
  • Sending a check or money order along with the payment slip to P.O. Box 1234, Clifton Forge, VA 24422-1234
  • By accessing the Web at www.ezpassva.com
  • In person at an E-ZPass Service Center
Methods of payment accepted are:
  • Cash at Walk-in Service centers only
  • Check or money order via Mail or walk-in center
  • Credit Card via Mail, phone, walk-in center or Web
  • Credit Cards accepted for payment are Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express

3. I am an E-ZPass Customer, why did I receive a Toll Violation Notice?

If you are an E-ZPass Customer and have received a violation notice(s), then one of the following situations may apply:

  • The transponder is not mounted properly in your vehicle
  • The transponder has been reported lost or stolen
  • The transponder is malfunctioning
  • Your account balance is negative
  • Your vehicle windshield blocks the transponder signal requiring that you use an externally mounted transponder
  • Your current license plate information has not been added to your account
  • You have not registered an On-the-Go transponder and you have exhausted the available funds

Please contact the E-ZPass Service Center at once to update your account information and receive instructions on how to correct the problem at 1-877-762-7824.

4. Who do I contact if I receive a violation notice?

The E-ZPass Toll Violation Processing Center can only assist you with violations occurring on the following toll facilities:
  • Coleman Bridge, Gloucester, VA
  • Powhite Parkway Extension, Richmond, VA
  • Dulles Toll Road, Northern VA
  • RMA Open Road Toll Lanes, Richmond, VA

If you have received a violation notice from any other toll facility in Virginia, you will need to follow the instructions on the notice. All violation notices contain detailed information for payments and disputes. The notice also contains the contact information of the issuing toll facility. Please contact the facility directly for assistance with your violation notice.

5. How do I contact the Customer service center for help?

Customer service is available to you by phone, Web or at one of our three Virginia walk in customer service centers.

6. What will happen if I pass through the toll plaza without paying the toll and there is no toll attendant available?

If you passed through a toll plaza without paying the toll, you could receive a violation notice in the mail. The violation notice will list the tolls due, applicable administrative fees, and provide instructions for payment.
