Chesapeake Bay Bridge

From I-64 in Hampton Roads, take exit 282 Northampton Boulevard. This 17.6 mile engineering wonder connects the Eastern Shore of Virginia (via US Route 13) with Virginia’s mainland in Virginia Beach.

 


Number of E-ZPass Only Lanes(Cars and light trucks only):
4

Location of E-ZPass Only Lanes:
Two lanes to the far left approaching North Toll Plaza on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.
Two lanes to the far left approaching South Toll Plaza in Virginia Beach.

Speed Limit Through E-ZPass Only Lanes:
All lanes are equipped with high speed gates so motorists must stop to allow the gates to raise before passing through.

Roadway Rules:
  • No backing up in the E-ZPass Only lanes.
  • E-ZPass must be properly mounted.
  • E-ZPass is not guaranteed to work on motorcycles
  • Wide loads must keep to the far right
  • All heavy trucks must keep to the far right.
  • Only cars and light trucks without trailers are permitted in the E-ZPass Only lanes.
